July LogoFest in Redmond, USA -- Registration Now Available

The Windows Logo Program hosts LogoFest events to assist hardware partners who are preparing products for the Windows Logo Program. These events provide hands-on test environment setup assistance, troubleshooting support, and training presentations that are designed to streamline the process of qualifying products for a Windows logo.

Registration is now open for the LogoFest event being held in Redmond, WA, USA, July 27-31, 2009. The format for this event will be similar to those held in the past, with a mix of formal presentations, lots of testing time, and plenty of resources and technical experts to answer questions. This event will also include:

. An optional LogoFest Preparation Workshop. This will be held on July 27 from 09:30 to 12:00 and will provide training for those who may be new to the logo process.
. Early set-up. The event will now include an opportunity for registrants to set up equipment and initiate testing on July 27 from 12:00 to 18:00.
. Presentation sessions for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Networked Media and Portable devices. Based on participant interest, there will be separate presentation tracks on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Networked Media and Portable devices.

Please visit the Logo Events and Training Web page (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/LogoEvents.mspx) for more information and to register for this event!

Driver Version Date Requirement for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Submissions

For all Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 submissions, the driver version date (DriverVer) in the .inf file must be April 21, 2009, or later. If the driver version date is earlier than April 21, 2009, the submission will fail. For more information on updating DriverVer, see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms794435.aspx.

If you are already testing your drivers for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 but have a driver version date earlier than April 21, 2009, you can use the following process to avoid retesting. After you complete your testing with Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4, update the driver version date (DriverVer) in the .inf file. Submit the updated .inf file with the tested driver package and log files. If only this field is changed in .inf file and no other changes are made to the driver package binaries after testing, this change will be acceptable.

Effective July 9, 2009, All Submissions Must Use WLK 1.4

The Windows Logo Program would like to remind our partners that starting July 9, 2009, submissions to the Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) Web site must use Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4. Beginning July 9, 2009, partners will no longer be able to use WLK 1.2 or WLK 1.3.

You can download WLK 1.4 from Microsoft Connect (https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=668).

List of Qualified Windows 7 Motherboards

To support partners who want to use the Previously Logo'd Motherboard category in the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) for Windows 7 submissions, we have posted a list of motherboards that have qualified for the Windows 7 logo. You can download this list at http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/E/7/7E7662CF-CBEA-470B-A97E-CE7CE0D98DC2/QualifiedMB_Win7.xlsx. There is also a link to this download in the "Specifications and References" section of the Windows Logo Program Resources & Support page on the Windows Hardware Developer Central (WHDC) Web site (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/resources.mspx).

We will maintain this list on the WHDC Web site until our Windows 7 hardware catalog is ready.
