| 2003 to 2007 Work Offline Working offline with documents stored in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 document libraries means saving the file locally and replacing the server version the next time you connect. In Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, you can synchronize document libraries to a Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 list by clicking the Actions button in the document library, and then clicking Connect to Outlook. After you're connected, you can open the server documents directly from your Outlook 2007 client.
To edit a document offline in the 2007 Microsoft Office system, open the file from Outlook, and then click Edit Offline. You are now ready to disconnect from the network. When you close the file, you can choose to synchronize it or keep it offline. If you want to check out the file from the document library before going offline, you need to do so from the document library itself or configure the library to require checkout for editing.
