Enforcement Delayed for NETWORK-0212 and NETWORK-0227

The Windows Logo Program team would like inform our partners about some requirement changes. We are delaying enforcement of NETWORK-0212 (Ethernet devices that implement network presence conform to the Power Management specification on the NDIS Program) and NETWORK-0227 (Ethernet devices must implement Wake on LAN patterns according to the specification on connect) until January 1, 2011 or 90 days after Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.6 is released, whichever is later. In order to give time for the ecosystem to fill the channel with compliant devices, we will also delay enforcement of these requirements for desktop and all-in-one system submissions until December 1, 2011. We will not require these features for any mobile platforms because Windows 7 does not enable the features by default on mobile platforms.

An errata filter will be in place in the device category until January 1, 2011 or 90 days after WLK 1.6 is released, whichever is later. We will have tests to validate these requirements in the systems kit starting with Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.6. There will be a preview filter for the new systems tests until the requirements go into effect on December 1, 2011.
