Ask Rieva
Q: We are starting to see signs of recovery at our retail businesses (we sell baby and children's products online and from a physical storefront). But the last few years have hit our business pretty hard, and I feel like we're playing catch-up. I know I need to bring in new customers, but I suspect it might be easier (and less expensive) to try to bring back former customers who haven't shopped with us lately. Any ideas?
A: Your instincts are right on. And there are relatively easy (and inexpensive) ways for you to attract both new and old customers. It's likely you already have a lot of information about your former customers that you can use to bring them back. All it takes is examining the business intelligence you have collected about your customers and using it to market to them. Since you already have the information, it won't divert the funds you should budget to appeal to new customers.

Upcoming Support Life-Cycle Transition Dates for Windows Client and Windows Server
Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows 2000 Server, and Windows 2000 Professional will reach end of support on July 13, 2010. Customers should migrate to supported versions of Windows Client and Windows Server because if you encounter an issue or outage in your environment on an unsupported product, Microsoft engineers may not be able to help resolve this problem until you've upgraded to a supported level.
