TOP STORY: Announcing Windows Summit 2010

Windows Summit 2010 presents a unique opportunity to learn from and network with the Windows team to discuss how you can best use Windows 7 and Internet Explorer to build great products and solutions for your customers. This three-day event takes place at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, Washington, and is designed for people who design, develop, engineer, and test Windows 7-based PCs and software applications.

Windows Summit 2010 features three technical tracks: Systems, Devices, and Software. Each track will include opportunities to connect with Windows team leaders and technical experts at breakout sessions, chalk talks, and an "ask the experts" evening and social event. Michael Angiulo, General Manager of the Windows Planning and PC Ecosystem team, will give the opening keynote and provide a view of the Windows business and industry opportunities.

Windows Summit 2010 Track Overviews

Windows Summit 2010 is intended for technology professionals who build or want to build hardware and software solutions on the Windows 7 and Internet Explorer platforms. This event features three technical tracks for these audiences: Systems, Devices, and Software.

Systems Track

Who should attend: Systems designers, builders, testers, and product planners; boot and firmware engineers

Topics covered will include:

- Optimizing system performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Implementing touch-enabled PCs
- Designing effective system user experiences
- Understanding the Windows Logo Program for systems
- Creating and deploying system images

Devices Track

Who should attend: Device designers, builders, testers, and product planners; middleware engineers

Topics covered will include:

- Overviews and demos of the Windows 7 device experience
- Understanding the Windows Logo Program for devices
- Using the Windows 7 platform to create custom device experiences

Software Track

Who should attend: Software application developers and testers

Topics covered will include:

- Developing touch-enabled applications
- Supporting the Windows Libraries feature
- Building on the Windows Sensors and Location platform
- Utilizing Windows Error Reporting
- Developing rich Web applications using Internet Explorer
