Important News Regarding Windows Touch Test Lab

Effective February 26, 2010, the Windows Touch Test Lab (WTTL) in Taipei, Taiwan, will become the sole lab for testing all Windows Touch device submissions and the WTTL in Redmond will close. By February 26, 2010, please send all of your Windows Touch device submissions to the WTTL in Taipei.

Also, the WTTL in Taipei will be closed during Chinese New Year, February 13 - 21, 2010. Because of this closure, submissions that arrive at the Taipei WTTL between February 9 and February 21 might not be processed within the normal turnaround time. To avoid possible delay, please be sure your submission arrives in Taipei by February 8.

For more information on the Windows Touch Test Lab, see http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/input/WindowsTouch_Test-Lab.mspx.

WLK 1.5 Testing Process for Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) 1.0 Drivers Under Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.5 previews upcoming WIA 2.0 scanning driver requirements, so WIA 1.0 drivers automatically fail under Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 using WLK 1.5.

To qualify a WIA 1.0 scanner driver for a Windows 7 logo using WLK 1.5:
1. Run the IMAGING test using the Windows 7 client operating system (OS) and WLK 1.5; these tests should fail.
2. Run the IMAGING test using the Windows Vista client OS and WLK 1.5.
3. Submit both logs with the WLK 1.5 submission CPK package using the following submission procedure:
--- Create the submission in a normal fashion using the WLK 1.5 CPK package.
--- Reference manual erratum ID 1870 in your Readme file.
--- Place the WLK 1.5 test results and your Readme file in the same folder.
--- Upload package to the Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) Web site.
4. The log review team will triage the WLK 1.5 Windows 7 and Windows Vista test results. If all tests in the Windows Vista CPK package are passing, the submission will be approved.

To qualify a WIA 1.0 scanner driver for the Windows Server 2008 R2 logo, follow the instructions above, but substitute Windows Server 2008 R2 for Windows 7 and substitute Windows Server 2008 for Windows Vista.

We will discontinue manual erratum 1870 when WIA 2.0 is required for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 on June 01, 2010. After June 01, 2010, WIA 2.0 is required for a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 logo and WIA 1.0 is not acceptable.

Democast: WLK Preview Filters

In Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.5, we have introduced a significant change to the way new tests and points of failure are identified. The new preview filters are intended to mask the failures generated by preview tests. A new five-minute video that demonstrates how preview filters appear in the WLK, as well as how they are handled via the Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) site, is available at http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/logocast.mspx.
