Silverlight Is Coming to Winqual

Microsoft Silverlight is coming to the Windows Quality Online Services (Winqual) Web site (https://winqual.microsoft.com/). Starting on October 8, 2009, the Winqual uploading process will use Microsoft Silverlight 3.0 for both logo program and device metadata submissions. Silverlight will improve overall speed, security, and ease of use during the upload process.

To install the latest version of Silverlight, see http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx. After you install Silverlight, you must restart your browser for the changes to take effect.

New Machine Configuration Update (MCU) Process in WLK 1.5

Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.5 has a new process for configuring client machines. In WLK 1.5, gatherers are deployed to collect machine dimensions when the client is set up, rather than during the submission phase. This simplifies the gathering process, eliminates problems in synchronizing the client and the controller, and ensures that the gatherers have sufficient time to run. Also as a result of this change, users no longer need to set MCU policy dimensions in Job Monitor by running Master Config jobs.

When you set up a client machine, WLK 1.5 automatically collects the MCU dimensions of the client machine, reports them to the DTM Controller, and adds the machine to the Default Pool. You then create your machine pool for testing, move the machine into the new machine pool, and create your submission. You can then schedule test jobs and run them on the client machine.
