Tech pays off despite tough times
Dear Subscriber,

In tight economic times, it's natural to look for ways to cut costs. But whatever the economic climate, businesses depend on technology to keep pace with competition and to position themselves to pursue opportunities as they emerge.

In this month's issue of Momentum, we look at the factors that make technology a smart investment, even when market conditions call for caution. We'll see how Microsoft Office system software and Windows Mobile can help your people be more productive. And we offer guidance on making the most of the technology you already have.

Also this month, be sure to let us know what you think of our newsletter by taking a brief survey. Your answers will help us tailor future issues of Momentum to better meet your needs.

Best regards,
Christoph Wilfert

Zango, online media company, increases value of data with business intelligence solutions

Zango offers online media content to customers at no charge and funds its operations through advertising revenue. To build profitability and enhance advertiser retention, Zango needs an hourly view of audience activity and advertising performance. The company collected a wealth of data in its Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database but communicated that data in large, static reports that had limited use.

To provide more useful data, Zango worked with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner HabaƱero Consulting Group to create a business intelligence (BI) solution based on SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The solution presents dashboards with key performance indicators (KPIs) that can be tailored to each department. Employees can drill down to see the data in greater detail and turn information into action, to increase efficiency and enhance client service.
