WinHEC 2008 is right around the corner, and we want you to know that this is the Windows 7 conference not to miss. We hope you can join us in Los Angeles this November.

With 102 technical sessions and 55 panel discussions and chalk-talks covering Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and other topics, you have a lot to choose from at this year's conference. WinHEC is designed to provide deep explorations of future engineering and business directions for PC and device hardware and will provide plenty of opportunity to connect in person and in depth with Windows engineers.

We have a solid set of presentations to generate a good deal of discussion in the hardware community. Noteworthy topics include DirectX 11 graphics and 3-D rendering; parallel programming and multicore processors; green power management; multitouch, sensor, and location platforms; Netbooks; flash storage; and biometrics.

This year WinHEC tracks are aligned with five major themes associated with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008:

. Mobile Computing
. Connected PCs and Devices
. High Fidelity Graphics and Media
. Core Platform and Fundamentals
. Enterprise Computing

Register today! WinHEC 2008 is the Windows 7 hardware conference not to miss!

WDK Documentation Survey Summary

The Windows Driver Kit (WDK) documentation team would like to thank each and every member of the community who participated in our annual survey.

The great news is that over half the respondents who voiced an opinion thought that the WDK documentation had improved since they started writing Windows drivers.

We were pleased to learn the following details about our audience:

. Roughly half the respondents are non-native English speakers.
. English-only documentation is preferred strongly over machine translation or human translation. **
. Respondents use the WDK documentation online and offline about equally.

**NOTE: If you are interested in machine translation, check out http://translator.live.com

As a result of this survey, we've identified the following areas for improvement:

. More documentation on Kernel-Mode driver architecture.
. Reference sections across all technologies.
. Index enhancements in offline documentation.

As we move forward, our plans for improving documentation will be based on these focus areas. Please watch this newsletter for future announcements and pointers to newly published documentation. As always, if you would like to submit feedback, please send your comments to: ddksurv1@microsoft.com.
