Radio Tuner to feature direct streams only on August 1, 2009
Support for HTMLView on WindowsMedia.com ends July 31, 2009. Starting August 1, we will feature direct streams only in our Radio Tuner. Extra promotion opportunities are available for those who convert their HTMLView stations to direct streams by June 1. Contact us for details. Note: Microsoft is continuing its support of HTMLView for use in online stores. Support on WindowsMedia.com, however, is ending.

Embedded player support ends in August
We will stop promotion of partner content that is streamed via embedded player on September 1, 2009. This change applies to the US and all international guides and is in alignment with similar policies being implemented in the Radio Tuner. Each partner featured in the Media Guide after August 31 will receive a "Listen" or "Watch" link for their direct stream, plus a "More" or "Visit" link that directs users to partner web sites. In-stream and pre-roll advertising is preferred, but banners at the bottom of the page will be accepted. Instructions for banner implementation are provided in the ASX toolkit. Contact us for details.

Send us your images
An ad banner is a small image file that displays at the bottom of the Now Playing pane in Windows Media Player. The banner is implemented with scripting in a Windows Media metafile. In addition to displaying an image file, an ad banner can include a hyperlink that leads to a web page that provides more information about the ad. Ad banners are 194 x 321 pixels and are approved for use with direct streaming in both Radio Tuner and Media Guide. For instructions on how to include an ad banner in your ASX files, contact us to request the ASX Toolkit.

Happy Valentine's Day
On May 5 we added four international locales to our Media Guide beta offering: Latin America, UK, France, and Germany. Thanks to everyone who contributed to our beta sites.

We want to expand our user base, and we need your help! Please put a link to WindowsMedia.com on your web site. Linking to us not only improves our standing in search engines, but also enables new users to discover WindowsMedia.com. Our Free Stuff button is available for your use, or you can use a text link. Contact us for more information.
Every radio station featured in the new Radio Tuner must have a logo on file with us. Logos should be 300 x 300 pixels minimum. If you've already sent in your logo, thank you! If you haven't please send it to tuner@microsoft.com.
As you make the switch from display advertising to audio in-stream and video pre-roll advertising, several ad partners are available to assist. We have spoken with MSN, Broadband Enterprises, TidalTV, YuMe, Andomedia, Streamable Solutions, Target Spot, Audio Graphics, StandBuyMedia, ReplaceAds.com, Strategic Media, Ronning Lipset Radio, and more. For the complete list of ad providers, contact us.
