Revised Policy: Submissions Must Use Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Beginning March 3, 2010

We previously announced that effective August 17, 2009, all Windows Vista submissions must use Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2). Due to late-breaking news about the availability of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Preinstallation Kit (OPK) for Windows Vista SP2, we are moving the effective date for this requirement to March 3, 2010. We encourage all partners to test with the latest service pack as soon as possible.

Windows Logo Kit 1.4 QFE 003 Is Now Available on Connect

QFE 003 to Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4 is now available for download at the WLK Connect site (https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=668). This QFE fixes several problems related to the local area network (LAN), wireless LAN (WLAN), and Mobile Broadband Networking (MBN) programs in WLK 1.4. These improvements affect only the MBN, LAN, and WLAN programs; all other network-related programs remain unchanged. QFE 003 addresses the following problems:

. MBN: Job results were not filterable by errata. Updated job allows errata to be applied.
. WLAN: Blocked test case in softap_oids_ext changed to skipped test case, allowing the test to continue running.
. WLAN: Several possible bug checks in the test SoftAP fixed.
. WLAN: Resolved issue in SoftAP_Notifications_ext test suite where device indications are not reliably received by our test harness.
. LAN: There is a planned operating system change to disable wake-on patterns that are currently in power management (PM) capabilities if the physical device does not support low power offloads. This means that for most devices, the default out-of-the-box behavior will be to wake on magic packet only. The tests have been updated to enable wake on LAN (WoL) before querying capabilities.
. LAN: Support device now unbinds protocols automatically before running WoL and PM tests.

Windows Logo Kit 1.4 QFE 007 Is Now Available on Connect

QFE 007 for Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4 is now available for download on the WLK Connect site (https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=668). This QFE is required for the Windows 7 Logo Program for Windows Media Center IR v2 emulator devices. It is required only for emulator devices and not for any other IR device.

This QFE resolves an issue where a Windows Media Center IR emulator device would always fail Test 28 (InvalidDeviceCommands) because the test failed to send the data necessary for the device to successfully pass the test. You will not be able to certify a Windows Media Center IR emulator device without this QFE.

Windows Logo Kit 1.4 QFE 008 Is Now Available on Connect

QFE 008 to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) version 1.4 is now available for download at the WLK Connect site (https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=668).

This QFE addresses multiple issues for the Storage Optical test for Windows 7 devices:

. The test case for the READ CAPACITY command was not exercised properly for DVD-ROM models and immediately terminated with false failure. This has been fixed.
. For slot drives, tray status sense code checks now accept wider range additional sense code qualifiers (ASCQs) based on current language in the Multi-Media Commands - 6 (MMC-6) specification.
. The command performance check test case is up-to-date with the latest logo program requirements, and fixed to run after every profile in order to give partner feedback about device performance for each scenario.

This QFE is not a filter update. If a filter has not already been applied to your test, this QFE will not change the status of that test.

This QFE is for use with WLK 1.4 RTM (version 1.4.7100.0).

Connect-Based Support for WLK 1.4 Extended for Windows 7

We have had great success with the Microsoft Connect Web form. Partners raised nearly 300 issues. For Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4, we are extending the Connect-based support found on the WLK Connect site (https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=668) through August 21, 2009. We encourage you to explore the new rich documentation in the kit for self-help, but post your problems on the Connect site should you need additional help.

You can also request technical help for WLK 1.4 from Microsoft support by opening a normal support incident through your technical account manager (TAM) or through the online WLK support page (http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&prid=11880).
