Certified for Windows Server 2003 Hardware System Submissions Will Be Accepted Until July 13, 2010

Summary

Microsoft is extending the final date that test submissions will be accepted, via Windows Logo Kit (WLK) 1.4, for hardware systems certified for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 from December 31, 2009, to July 13, 2010, to align with the end of Mainstream Support for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2.

Details

. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may continue to use WLK 1.4 for testing systems for Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 until July 13, 2010; however, support for the WLK 1.4 tool ends February 1, 2010.
. WLK 1.5 does not support Windows Server 2003 but may be used upon release for testing Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. WLK 1.5 must be used after July 13, 2010, to test Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
. Due to the end of Mainstream Support for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003 R2 coming soon, Microsoft recommends testing new systems with and deploying Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
. This announcement does not impact the Windows Server 2003 Logo Program for Clusters, which retired on December 31, 2009. Refer to the September 1, 2009 Windows Logo Program Newsletter for additional information (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/whql/resources/news/whqlnews_090109.htm).
. This announcement does not impact device submissions for Windows Server 2003, which may continue to be submitted using WLK 1.4, through February 1, 2010, and WLK 1.5.
